Worshipful Master’s Message – November 2016

Greetings Brothers:

I hope our fall finds you well and active. There is a lot happening at Holbrook Lodge this month, so please have a look and see what you can find to join us in. The best part of Masonry is the fellowships and interactions with your Brother Masons.

November is Election month, so please come join us in casting your vote for the officers that will run your Lodge for the next year. Our Lodge has a solid line of Officers in place and ready to advance and take care of Lodge business and activities for the next year.

We will also honor our veterans this month, so please wear your uniform if possible and we will ask to hear a bit from each veteran about his service.

We enjoyed a great Past Masters night at our October with 11 of our Past Masters present, and 2 guest Past Masters were honored as well. These individuals are invaluable to myself in helping lead and govern this Lodge, and having 3 of them that were present when I was raised 34 years ago is an honor as well. We enjoyed an excellent lasagna dinner prepared by my wife Diane and assisted by Pam White and Shirley Moore, and served in a fine fashion by our DeMolay Chapter.

Several Officers and members of Holbrook Lodge attended the installation of Pacific Chapter DeMolay officers on Octtber 8th at our Lodge. DeMolay International Grand Master Bill Sardone attended and gave an inspiring address in his New York style. Also attending was Most Excellent Companion Louis Bertrand Royal Arch Masons, who presented his great grandson Ian Summers, the incoming Master Councilor with his own gavel. This was such a refreshing look at our Pacific Chapter, and the participation of the polished young ladies of Hillsboro Rainbow Assembly assures our fraternities are in good hands.

We have an Entered Apprentice Degree scheduled for Tuesday, November 8th at 7 pm as we start Thomas Arnold on his journey to Masonic light. We need to fill cast positions so please contact Senior Deacon Russ Furchner to arrange your part and participation.

A NOTE TO ALL MASONIC GROUPS USING THE LODGE BUILDING : The leaders of all these groups are being asked to please make sure that after your meeting or event, to please make sure the coffee pots are turned off, the ovens are turned off, and the garbage placed in the garbage can in the men’s room. DO NOT PUT GARBAGE OUTSIDE UNLESS IT IS IN THE GARBAGE CAN. Bags or anything other than the roll cart will not be picked up. There have been several instances of all this happening in the last month, and we need to make sure we take care of our building.

Reminder that a Celebration of Life for departed WB Ralph Paradis will be held Saturday November 12th at 3:00 pm at the Glenn and Viola Walters Cultural Center on Main Street in Hillsboro. Let’s have a good turn out to honor our Brother and support his family. WB Ralph was a huge part of our Lodge and we will miss him greatly.

As always, please let us know of sickness or distress, and your joy as well. If you need a ride to Lodge or know of someone who does, please let us know, we will see that it happens.

Fraternally,
Dale Wiley
Worshipful Master
