A new year approaches, a new Worshipful Master, a new set of officers and a new secretary. I remember raising my hand and ‘volunteering’ for the role of secretary. It seems a lifetime ago now, and yet I can still remember well sitting on Harold’s couch and listening to some of his fondest memories spanning nearly a century of good citizenship and service to others. Thank you Harold for your many many years of service, and thank you for all you have done and continue to do for me and my family. Now, I have the distinct honor and genuine privilege to serve Holbrook Lodge and to walk a mile in Harold’s shoes. I thank all of you for the opportunity to serve, and I thank Harold for his continued guidance as I grow into the role. After seeing parts of what the Worshipful Master has in plan for 2016, I’m terribly excited to be a part of it all.
This year, one of my goals is to update our records and communication systems, bringing them along into the digital age. I am working with our finance committee to implement an online record keeping system which will mirror the direction the Grand Lodge is taking in the next few years. And I will look into ingesting the decades of records we’ve accumulated into digital form for better storage to weather future years.
On to some more mundane business, I’d like to remind the Brethren about 2016 dues and assessment fees. Revenue is critically important to our organization as it supports the Lodge building expenses and our good work programs.
Lastly, I extend my warmest wishes to you and your families during this holiday season. Happy New Year and I look forward to seeing you in 2016!
